Even from the perspective of the anti-abortion movement (of which I am not a part) this is a very bad event I'm sure. A life was taken and a martyr was made, and the pro-abortion crowd was given further ammunition.
Using terms like hick, redneck, hillbilly, so forth is no less bigoted than using any racial or heritage based insult.
Blaming Christianity as a whole for the murder is stupid. This could not have happened in most Muslim countries, because in most Muslim countries the state would have already executed the doctor.
What you actually have here is a random act of violence committed, I sure, by an unstable person who has become obsessed.

If some of you feel so strongly on this issue (maplegap and skoalspitter especially), why don't you get off your asses and become active for the way you feel instead of spouting gibberish on a message board. Since this guy's such a hero, lock n load and head to the nearest abortion clinic...then you can emulate this hero of yours and hold his hand in jail while Bubba gets some ass...or vice versa.

I keep seeing Inky,Pinky,Blinky,and Clyde for some reason. I LOATHE abortion,but straight-up there's nobody with a right to play God but the big man himself. This nimrod just punched himself a ticket to hell. Nice job numbnuts. Does he actually think that God is going to give him big-ups on judgement day for being a "God warrior"? If that is the case we all need to be atheists,and say the Bible is bullshizz,because I'm pretty sure it tells us that we cannot kill. He is just as guilty as any Dr who took those little lives.

This "hero" endangered a lot of other lives with his version of homegrown justice, firing into a church lobby.
This was murder, plain and simple.
What next - do people go out and start shooting the women that seek out abortions?

Two things on this:
Saw an article today that said that this particular abortion clinic was one of only 3 in America to do abortions later than 21 weeks. Also, this clinic had been bombed in 1985 and Dr. Tiller had been shot in both arms by a protester in 1993. So, this clinic/doctor weren't strangers to ridicule from anti-abortion groups...which tells me this was indeed likely premeditated murder.
Also, the suspect, a 51-year-old man named Scott Roeder, was known for his anti-abortion stances, and is rumored to have been a part of the anti-government Freemen militia group, which had a near 3-month standoff with FBI agents at a compound in Montana back in late 1995/early 1996. This guy was also charged with having bomb components in his possession later in 1996, but that case was thrown out due to an illegal search technicality when the parts were seized. All that together makes the McVeigh comparison that much easier to make.
Instead of celebrating him killing an abortion doctor, we'd better be glad he didn't decide to detonate a van full of diesel/anfo explosive near a clinic or a bigger hospital building where abortions took place. His history implies he was extremely capable of it.

So posting on a message board wouldn't be considered active? Are you trying to solicit us to murder someone? That is screwed up. And illegal.

Did he hit anyone besides his target? How many folks did the doctor not only endanger but end the life of? A murderer was stopped.

Actually just replying to ignorance with ignorance....but, no..sittin on your ass in front of a monitor isn't being active...well, maybe if you graduated anytime from 2000 til now maybe it is...cuz that's some of the laziest bunch of human beings on the planet.
